You’ve booked your 5 star luxury hotel in Venice. If arriving by train in Venice Italy, you will arrive at one of the most ugly train stations in the world, but once you depart the train station, one of the most beautiful cities in the world will lay before your eyes and take your breath away. Fabulous history, architecture, culture, restaurants and bars are all available to you in Venice.

You want to stay in a luxury hotel in Venice where you will pay anywhere from per room per night at any of these establishments. Hopefully, this site will give you an evaluation of the luxury hotels in Venice Italy where you can rest your weary head between the long walks, the gondola rides, the site seeing and the shopping in Venice. If you can’t afford a night at one of the luxury hotels in Venice, such as The Bauer or the Gritti Palace Hotel or , at least sample a visit the lobby, visit one of their bars and drink as you savour the luxury of your surroundings. This is a cheap way to get a little taste of how the rich and famous live.

Sites to see in Venice include The Grand Canal and the Ca’ d’Oro. The Grand Canal is the main traffic artery for the city. Vaporetti, boats with goods, and gondolas have taken replaced the ships and gondolas of the past. You can witness history, when the traditional festivals, such as the Historical Regatta in early September, and watch sumptuous procession of decorated boats. Houses were built by the rich merchants of business along the Grand Canal because of necessity, but soon it became a prestigious address to have a house or palace built on the Canal. The result of this is the richness in architecture and beauty evident along the edge of the Canal. Many different styles of architecture can be witnessed along its banks, from the Veneto-Byzantine style of the 12th century, to the buildings of 1950s, and the gothic palaces of the fifteenth century.

Note the Ca’ d’Oro, a beautiful gothic building not to be missed. It is a majestic palace close to the Rialto Bridge built by the patrician Mario Contarini, in the fifteenth century. The Ca’ d’Oro palace (which means the golden house) was decorated with gold plating, polychrome marble, crenellation and beautiful hand carved stone, a courtyard with a gothic gate. Be sure to visit the Galleria Franchetti, a very important art collection in Venice.

You cannot miss the vital center of the city, the Piazza San Marco, known fondly by Venetians as the living room of the world. In the past, it was the center of culture, politics, where as it is today the center of monuments. On the Piazza San Marco, stop by the Correr Museum with its exhibitions and important collection of art works, and also see the Archeological Museum. Climb to the Bell Tower of San Marco , open all year round, to view a most beautiful, panoramic view of the city of Venice. The Basilica of San Marco is situated here, modelled like the great Byzantine churches of old Constantinopole with its vaults and cupolas. In the Palazzo Ducale, you can still see the Doge’s rooms or the great hall of the Venetian judiciary and government until the 19th century. Walk to the famous Bridge of Sighs and visit the State Prisons, the Piombi, and see the cells of the condemned.

While in Venice, be sure to visit L’isola di Burano famous throughout the world for its lace and for its many colored houses. Also, take a boat to the island of Murano, watch the glass blowing and purchase some lovely glass items.

There is so much to see in Venice and nothing would be nicer than staying while in Venice in one of the luxury hotels of Venice such as the Gritti, the Cipriani or the San Clemente, adding a nice touch to your holiday in Venice.
