If you have ever been to Venice, you will always return, once again in your life to ancient capital of the “Serenissima”.  I was in Venice once, long ago, before the masses of tourists came flocking to the city.  It was an early morning in May, the city was quiet, the fog had come in from the sea.  There were a few people to be seen in the distance in the square, their heads bowing against the the morning chill, the wind, rushing somewhere else.  In the distance, the sea could be heard, gently lapping against the concrete edges of the canals.  And the pigeons, they are always there in the heart of the city that is Piazzo San Marco.  In the Piazzo San Marco, in the grand old cafes where one could sip fine teas and watch the pigeons and the people darting about the square, rich coffee and pastries served on silver platters by waiters in white jackets. Such refined pleasures are to be had in Venice.

That was so long ago.  And again and again, I have returned to Venice, to glide in a gondola along the Grand Canal, the main artery of the city, watch the Bridge of Sighs and listen for sighs whispered from the past, the great lagoon, the carnival, the grand architecture of the palaces and churches, the art, the Murano glass, the lace of Burano.  How charming is Venice and will always be.  Venice, one of the most romantic and beautiful cities of the world – it will always remain this way.
